I grew up in Baton Rouge where my mom took me to church services three times a week! And so I heard the gospel early on and, by God’s grace, came to faith in Christ early on as well. I was baptized, grew in the Lord during my high school years and, through the faithful input of some older Christian men when I was at LSU, I learned how to share my faith, lead Bible studies and disciple others.
God gave me a great wife, Lynn, and we have had a full and rich life since getting married in 1991. After graduate school (I received a J.D. from LSU and she received an M.A. in Literature from Baylor), we travelled to China to teach English at the university level, clerked for a federal judge and taught at LSU, respectively, moved to Dallas where I received a Th.M. in church history from Dallas Theological Seminary, and then back to Baton Rouge in 2005 where I began pastoring the church that is now called Christ Covenant Church.
And, all the while, God continued to bless us with children—two girls, Olivia and Elizabeth, and three boys, Alexander, Andrew, and Elliott. Besides loving my calling to pastor a local church, I enjoy traveling, learning about history, and eating home made pizza, chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls.
